Professional Experience
I started working at Cutter Labs in 1971 as a Kelly Girl and was hired by them in 1972. I hadn't really planned to stay but at that point I wanted health insurance so why not become an employee. I stayed there for 27 years taking an early retirment in 1999. I was there as they moved from a family owned business to a huge multinational corporation from Cutter Labs to Miles Labs to Bayer. As the company changed so did my role, from that of a person hired because of my skill in making copies (yes in those days it took skill) to Director of Finance and Administration - Berkeley.
I spent most of my time in Accounting and Finance, I did a 5 year stint in Quality Assurance and the last 3+ years in Administration, which included Accounting, Human Resources, Purchasing, Warehouse, Security, and Public Relations. My favorite position was as Controller. First I just loved the name. If someone said I was too controlling, I could respond, yes that's my title.
